Medical school, or any kind of medical training for that matter, is obviously overrated. Knowing that, one of this airline's 'finest aviators' (aka flight qualified supervisors) known as a 'management pilot,' was put in charge of performing the equivalent of (or something close to) a mental status exam every month on pilots participating in the HIMS program at their respective airline. Anyone (and quite literally, anyone) in aviation knows of, has heard, or likely has experienced first-hand the quarrelsome relationship that has long existed between labor and management. What a perfect opportunity then, to extend that wonderful working relationship into yet another area of the pilot's career: her/his Medical Certificate. At this airline, one of these REQUIRED monthly meetings between "management" (quotes used due to the fact that most managers at this airline have little to no actual management training) and the HIMS pilot COULD PUT HIS OR HER MEDICAL CERTIFICATE (read: career) AT JEOPARDY. Moreover, ALL EXPENSES related to travel to and from said meeting(s) (that will take place over the course of her/his Special Issuance, i.e., monthly, for YEARS) are not reimbursed, done on the pilot's 'off time' from work, and compulsory. Attached is an example of the report a "management pilot" will fill out on the pilot's behalf, enjoy!
